Transocean (RIG +0.4%) secured three new drilling contracts during Q3, adding ~$75M in contract backlog, according to its latest quarterly fleet status report. Transocean (NYSE:RIG) recently announced that it has won a major five-year drilling contract from Chevron (NYSE:CVX), which will likely add $830 million to Transocean’s backlog. The amount excludes mobilization and reimbursable charges. Notably, as of Dec. 5, the company had a total backlog of $12.2 billion. Among the contract additions, Transocean signed a rig design and construction management contract, as well as a five-year drilling contract, withChevron USA Inc. for one of its two dynamically positioned ultra-deepwater drillships under construction at the Jurong shipyard in Singapore. The drilling contract has an estimated backlog of $830 million, excluding mobilization and reimbursables. The rig’s current contract with BP in the UK expires this month. In Brunei, Transocean has won a contract for its Deepwater Nautilus semi-submersible drilling unit. The 45-day contract is with Shell and is expected to start in February 2020.
